Department Aerospace Engineering

Dr Bond is a member of the Aerospace Composites research group. His principle research interests are listed below.

Recycling of Composite Manufacturing Waste

Activities are currently underway to develop a methodology to reprocess composite manufacturing waste in-house, to minimise the costs of waste disposal and provide useful recyclates to fill cost-effective application niches, primarily within the organisation producing the waste. This work is supported by Airbus UK.

Fatigue Life Prediction Modelling of Advanced Composites

The aim of this research, supported by AgustaWestland Helicopters and Dowty Propellers, is to provide a comprehensive design tool for the fatigue life prediction of fibre reinforced plastic composites. This will be achieved by considering phenomenological fatigue life prediction in three main parts, "load idealisation", " data manipulation" and "damage accumulation".
